Essence is the latest collection by Teresa Poole, a body of work deeply influenced by her early years restoring and painting Japanese screens. The result is a distinctive fusion of Eastern aesthetics and Western sensibility.

Drawing upon a chaos of memories, dreams, and emotions—of places glimpsed, visited, or imagined—Poole reconfigures these impressions like rooms in a museum of the mind. Through this process, she seeks balance and beauty, transforming disorder into harmony.

The works shimmer with vivid yet dreamlike imagery: flowing water, ethereal landscapes, and elements of nature rendered on glowing metal leaf and silk. Using inks, gesso, and patination, Poole creates a medley of colour and light—an exploration of memory, movement, and the quiet poetry within chaos.
