I am a native Cheltonian who has been painting in oil for many years but has never offered works for sale until now.
Recently I have moved from old master copies such as Dutch still lifes to my own compositions which combine renaissance, pre-raphaelite and art deco influences. Although I mainly enjoy figurative subjects I also enjoy more contemporary genres such as steampunk, although still working in the academic manner.
I work exclusively in oil, using a traditional layering technique to build up detailed paintings on panel or linen. I am always looking for a harmonious whole using toned and muted colours to somehow relive the beauty of past artistic genres. Although I don't use any artificial ageing techniques per se, my ultimate objective would be for my work to look timeless, as though it has already been hanging for tens or hundreds of years.
