Freya Saleh is an abstract artist exploring the ‘realm of the invisible’ through the study of essence and shadow. She characterises her work as being about ‘the phenomena of reading shadows, in the same way as one would read tea leaves, a palm or reflections on the surface of water.’

Much of her work is fuelled by ideas found in literature and poetry from the 1800s, in particular the Gothic genre. Saleh works deeply with an ochre based palette of reds, browns and golden yellows, as these are the pigments that unlock her visions.
