KAREN BLEAKLEY

Karen Bleakley
25 November - 1 December 2026
Open daily 10am - 5pm
(Final Tuesday 10am - 1pm)

Karen’s paintings are not representations of specific places, but explorations of memory, atmosphere and emotion. Working in acrylic, she creates landscapes that exist somewhere between observation and imagination—spaces that feel deeply familiar, even though they cannot be found on a map.

Inspired by the changing light and open horizons of the British landscape, her work begins not with a view, but with a remembered feeling: the stillness after rain, the warmth of evening light, the quiet sense of standing at the edge of something vast. Through layered colour, softened forms and intuitive mark-making, she seeks to evoke an emotional response rather than describe a location.

Her latest collection, Soft Horizons, invites viewers to slow down and inhabit these imagined spaces. They are paintings that offer room to breathe, reflect and reconnect with a sense of calm. Each work becomes less a window onto a place than an invitation into a state of mind, where memory, colour and atmosphere converge.
