ANTHONY WEBB

ANTHONY WEBB (1972–2019)

A Photographer with an Artist’s Eye
10 - 16 September 2025
Open daily, 10am - 5pm (Final Tuesday 10am - 1pm)

Leaving Hereford, Ant moved to London and graduated from Central St. Martins in 1998. He was a lecturer at CSM, conceiving and developing both the Travel Photography Course and London Street Photography Course. In 2002 he was commissioned by Thames & Hudson who were launching their StyleCity series of travel books and this exhibition includes just a few of his photographs in relation to StyleCity Amsterdam, San Francisco and Sydney.

In 2013 he approached Thames & Hudson with the idea of photographing in London’s East End, wishing to portray the extremely diverse fashion and culture of this vibrant and often challenging part of the city. His proposal was accepted and over the course of the following year Ant spent several days each week in the East End – Brick Lane in particular.  In 2015 ‘East End Fashionistas’ was published.

‘All the people in these images were strangers. We shared or played for a few seconds or minutes. My aim as a designer was to record fashion expression. My aim as a photographer was to capture a mood. My aim as an artist was to capture a feeling”
